The PC USA maintains the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Fund, available for immediate disbursement from Louisville headquarters in the event of an emergency. Funds have been used to respond to natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, fires and hurricanes AND to such un-natural disasters as September 11th. More recently, this fund sent this fund sent funds directly to the aid of tsunami and hurricane victims. The only way this fund can have money available when it is needed is if members replenish those funds on a regular basis! Remember the Scouting motto, “Be Prepared”? It applies here too.
